Vacation

I needed one. I was beginning to become a whiny, self-absorbed, grumpy, pompous cretin. Yeah, I know! Hard to believe, right?

Anyway, I was beginning to hate the job that pays my bills, and my performance was suffering. So I took some time off a couple of weeks ago.

What a difference a little down time makes! I looked at my calendar and the last vacation I had taken was almost a year ago. I really need to do a better job of scheduling these things.

I am about to take some more time off. Maybe, as a result of this one, I turn into a nice guy.

OK, Maybe not.

We need to stop feeding the Trolls

I know it is great sport, and I have engaged in it myself. But, feeding them only inflates their sense of self-importance and does nothing to advance to the cause of Liberty.

To that end, I am disengaging from this conversation. You can't win the argument, because logic is lost on them. You sure as heck can't shoot them, because that would prove their point for them (but it would be quieter in the long run). Best to leave them alone to talk among themselves...

Call your Senator

The Pelosi-Reid Health Care travesty power grab is up for a vote on Cloture tomorrow night. Keep trying to get through the switchboard*...

*I say this because I have been trying for hours today and all of the circuits are busy into the DC offices of my Senators.

NoVA Blogmeet 12/5/09

Dear Readers (all 9 of you),

I have made the reservations for us at Sweetwater Tavern in Sterling for 5:00 PM on 12/5/09. That is the latest time that they will take reservations, as any time after that is "call-ahead seating" only. As the group coalesces, this number (currently 16) may expand or contract and that is OK.

If you are planning to attend, please email me (address in profile) with your RSVP. I know that some people would like to come at 6:00 PM and I think this will be OK, since I expect we will be there for a few hours.

I want this event to be a positive impression for us "gunnies" with the chain, and I expect that we will solve all of the world's problems by the time all of the beer has been consumed. Please join me if you are able.

NoVA Blogmeet update

11/21 is not going to happen. 12/5 is my next available date. Yes, groupies can attend (groupie of whom?), and Wai you are welcome to come down.

I traded correspondence with the CEO of the company that owns Sweetwater Tavern. A very good exchange, but the bottom line is no carrying in the restaurant due to policy. Should we look elsewhere, or press on?

Still more questions than answers...

I need feedback from attendees.

NoVA Blogmeet?

Trying to co-ordinate something. Need some replies. I am thinking either 11/21 or 12/5 at Sweetwater Tavern in Centreville.

Does this date work?

Is there a better one?

Suggestions and comments welcome...

Turk? CJR? T-Bolt? Nicki? NFO?

Let me know...

November 7th

Sadness. Shock. Dismay.

That is what I am feeling right now. I truly do not have the words to express anything else, because the feelings are much more complex than that.

We all knew that this was coming. We tried to warn the politicians not to do it. We were dismissed as "Astro-turf", "Radicals", "Un-patriotic", "Extremists" and "Right-wing Terrorists". We were marginalized.

We were ignored.

In my mind, November 7th, 2009 is the political equivalent of September 11th, 2001. It is an assault on our country.

On 9/11, Radical Islamic terrorists attacked our country and our financial centers with airplanes, and temporarily wounded our economy. The Nation came together in response with a unity of purpose and resolve that was short-lived but was a beautiful thing to see while it lasted. The People remembered what it meant to be an American.

On 11/7, Radical Marxist Democrat Congressmen attacked our country and our small businesses with an assault on their financial stability. They also attacked the citizen's Liberty with 2000+ pages of regulations that will have the net effect of intruding into every aspect of our lives. If you do not play along with this takeover, you will be fined, or imprisoned, or both.

On 9/11, I cleaned my guns. It seemed like a rational response to an attack on our country whose scope was unknowable. Yesterday's assault on our country will be far more devastating in the long run than 9/11.

What should the rational response be this time?

What to do?

I can only offer advice, encouragement, and support for so long. After that, they either fly on their own or crash below the nest.

If you are an Eagle, fly like one! No more excuses.

Thanks for nothing, GOP

While I am pleased that the Republican candidates swept the Virginia races, I am disappointed about NY-23. Thanks to the party bosses (has a nice ring to it, no?) selecting a RINO instead of allowing a primary, we had a split vote that gave the seat to the Democrat.

D-Owens 49% C-Hoffman 46% R-Scuzzy-Favor 5% (and endorsing the Dem!)

This just goes to show that the two parties are opposite sides of the same Progressive coin. "Heads, the People lose; Tails, the People lose." The parties exist to propagate their positions of power and lordship over the people, not to serve them.

Congratulations to Doug Hoffman for his strong showing. Perhaps he, or someone equally principled, can give the Dems a run for it next year when the seat comes back up for election.

In the meantime, I am keeping my wallet CLOSED to the RINO party until they pull their collective head out of the Democrat's "Donkey" and show some real leadership.

Getting it wrong

I predict that, unless the elections today are stolen outright by the criminal left, the conservative candidates will win.

I predict that when the conservative candidates do win, the GOP will crow loudly that it is a victory for them and their policies.

They would be wrong.

Today's vote is not about party, it is about principle. If you are for liberty, you will win. If you are for bigger government, you will lose. That is the message that the parties should take away from today.
