Piling on
It seems that Mr. Paul Helinski, of GunsAmerica.com (no link), has stepped in it. Badly. On top of being an elitist moron who doesn't understand grass roots, he doubled down on the stupid by basically trashing those of us who do Second Amendment blogging as a hobby. "Hobby" means we do it for fun and are likely passionate about it.
We may not have retail sites. We may not have T&E pipelines that we fellated someone to fill. But, we have passion for what we do, and we have friends.
I have used GunsAmerica.com to purchase a lower for my rifle build. It was painless, and the transfer to my local FFL was easily accomplished. But, it was no easier than GunBroker.com to use. And, GunBroker isn't trying to piss me off with aspersions cast in my general direction due to my low readership.
So, Mr. Helinski, allow me to bid your company adieu. You are no better than your competition, and I can choose whom I wish to associate with. Sadly, you are no longer a part of that group.
Warmest regards,
Newbius

Stupid Gun Laws
Well, all of them are stupid since they regulate a THING instead of an action. Today's example? California's "Safe Gun" Approved Handgun Roster.
Why is certifying guns for sale in a state stupid? Because it creates idiocies like the one below:
THIS gun is approved for sale in California:
THIS gun is NOT approved for sale in California:
"But they look identical", you say. That's because they ARE identical. Well, except that the "unapproved" gun comes from the factory with 2 of these:
And the approved gun comes with 2 of these:
The above examples are for the XD-45. The XD-9 faces similar restrictions. The only difference between the guns, as-packaged, is the capacity of the magazine. In both cases, the "approved gun" is restricted to 10 round magazines for citizens. Of course, "law enforcement" is exempt from those restrictions, but that is another post for another day. Malum Prohibitum doesn't have to make sense, it just has to ensnare you in the web. The system cannot control honest men and women. They can only control criminals.
Do you understand yet?

FTC Note: "Traction Control" (well-regulatedmilitia.com/ffl) is a good vendor. I am using these images under 'fair use' and am linking back to the source site. I have not received anything of value in exchange for using his images or linking to him. He doesn't even know I exist. So, suck it. Go pick on Bank of America for their crap customer service and fraudulent lending practices. Oh, wait...

QOTD: Wasserman-Schultz
From Politico
All that power and not a brain cell to be found...
Listen here, you (expletive-deleted) piece of maggot-infested dog squeeze: Your side of the aisle hasn't done ANYTHING about the budget (except blow it up beyond any level considered sane) for more than 2 years. Unlike the last Republican you dealt with, this guy might actually have some calcium in his spine. You HAVE to consider his proposals because YOUR side will not present a proposal of their own.
Sitting in the corner and crying into your Wooby that the Republicans aren't giving you "bi-partisan" cover for your socialist schemes isn't working. Instead of vilifying the House leadership because they did their job, maybe you can shame ObeyMe or Reid into doing theirs? Your accusations of Dictatorship are ringing hollow. Quit projecting your actions onto others and start acting like an adult.
This Democratic temper-tantrum is getting old. If you Democrats want to be able to control the agenda, then WIN THE GORRAM ELECTION! Otherwise, COMPROMISE. YOUR SIDE has to bend on this, and you know it. MSNBC and DNCNN might give you cover, but the American people will no longer do so. Oh, and Debbie? The reason why your side is in the minority right now in the house is BECAUSE you controlled the agenda for 4 years and destroyed the economy in the process.
Sigh...somebody change her diaper. She is beginning to smell.

“Aren’t we at the point where the closer we get to chaos, the more concern that there should be about coming to the table and compromising with Democrats?” Wasserman Schultz asked. “This is not leadership. This is almost like dictatorship. I know they want to force the outcome that … their extremists would like to impose. But they are getting ready to spark panic and chaos, and they seem to be OK with that. And it’s just really disappointing, and potentially devastating."

Awareness
The number one rule in personal survival is personal awareness. Know your surroundings.
Number One Son got mugged last night. He is OK, but a couple hundred dollars lighter. The Missus and I are awaiting the rest of the story...
But, Situational Awareness would have helped here. Just saying...

Saggy pants
Hey, SaggyPantsBoy! It might be your right to advertise your appreciation of jail-house fashion, but it is my right to point it out to you when you do. Get over it. Or, get stuffed. I don't particularly care.
The truth is, your mama should have kicked your ass the first time she saw you dressing that way. Your daddy should, too. I am going to keep pointing it out to you, while telling you to pull your pants up. If you have a problem with that, I have two words for you: "Bring it."
You are symptomatic of the decline and impending death of what once was a great nation. Your false self-esteem and hyped machismo are nothing more than vanity and sloth. Grow-the-****-up.

Regarding Colin Goddard's credentials as an expert on college shootings:

"I’ll grant that he is an expert at getting shot. But I don’t think that takes a whole lot of practice or that his experience is something that we can use a guide for how to handle the situation he experienced."That, right there, is Grade "A" Prime Quality WIN....

What's Need Got To Do With It?
Senator Lautenberg (T*-NJ) and Representative McCarthy (T*-NY), are teaming up with anti-civil-rights activists to impose more restrictions on our 2A rights. The common theme is "You don't need a 30-round clip (sic) to go hunting".
Well, Rep. McCarthy, nobody NEEDS a geriatric, vapid, shrill, opportunistic, and intellectually lazy person representing them in Congress, either. But, your district keeps sending you back anyway, as is their RIGHT to do (even if I disagree with their choice). "Need" has nothing to do with it. If you were capable of rubbing two brain cells together to form a complete thought (or had actually read the document that you took an oath to uphold), you would know this.
For argument's sake, let's instead suggest that a group of 30 people "of color" gathered together, exercised in inflammatory rhetoric that resulted in property getting damaged and people getting hurt, and they used personal property to advance their crimes. Would you then suggest that we should infringe on the 13th Amendment regarding "people of color"? Or infringe upon the 1st Amendment Freedom to Associate and Freedom of Speech? Would you recommend that we further infringe on the 4th Amendment and take their "criminal property" without Due Process? Would you?
Once upon a time in America, bigots banded together to suppress "niggers". The KKK did heinous things to people because they were different. Today, gun owners are the new "nigger"**. And, like before, the Democratic Party is the primary political cover that allowsThe New KKK Gun Control Advocates a platform for spewing their hateful ideas. Being Anti-Freedom, it is what makes the Democratic Party tick.

A fundamental misunderstanding
We have a sitting Supreme Court Justice, Stephen Breyer, who has exhibited a fundamental misunderstanding about our system of governance. He has just come out with a book, whose title displays this misunderstanding, and whose contents reflect a flawed view of Constitutional jurisprudence.
The book? Making Our Democracy Work
Justice Breyer, I hate to be the one to break this to you, as you should have learned this in high school Civics class. We are not a Democracy. We never have been. We are a Constitutional Republic. Please try and remember that the next time you deign interpret a document you obviously do not understand.

Bounced the stops last night
Every now and then I guess I need to remind myself why some approaches to problem-solving don't work. It isn't like I didn't have that example in front of me for most of my life. I did. But sometimes I try it. And then it gets ugly.
Tequila is not a painkiller.
Too much of it, and there are pieces to pick up to things that shouldn't get broken. Like relationships. I'll be OK. But it will take some time for things to get better. She understands. She is an amazing woman and I am lucky to have her.
Later on, when the stress at work and elsewhere is lower, things should improve. We'll get through this. We've hit rough patches before. This one is my fault though.
Right now, some apologies are in order.

QOTD - Ben Bernanke
“I don’t fully understand movements in the gold price”Quoted in an article in the Wall Street Journal yesterday.
Really? Are you kidding?
Let me break it down for you Mr. Chairman. Gold is a store of value. Gold's price moves as a result of three primary motivators: Greed, Fear, or Relative Worth to your fiat trash from the Fed.
Let's take the last one first, Mr. Chairman. Your wanton profligate printing of paper currency with no backing has inflated said currency and diminished said currency's value relative to precious metals. An ounce of gold's utility is roughly the same as it was 3 years ago, but its ability to be purchased requires more of your worthless trash to acquire. Hence, the price has risen.
Next, the price of gold is also an indication of the relative stability of geopolitics. As world events unfold, the price of gold fluctuates with the level of tension among adversaries. More tension (as with Iran's saber-rattling) equates to higher prices of precious metals. If you couple an unstable world with your unrestrained printing presses, people get a little worried about their ability to buy bread in the future and tend to run to things which will store value for them. Fear is a factor in the price of gold. Your policies are not helping calm the sheep. Really. Go look it up.
Lastly, let's look at greed. Seriously. Your friends at Goldman Sachs, Lehman Brothers, and the other brokerages have been speculating that the price of gold might rise given your policies at the Fed. I am not sure where they would get this wild idea from, since they are not all Harvard-educated like yourself. Maybe you could ask George Soros about currency speculation...I hear he might know a thing or two. He might be able to explain to you that in every political and economic crisis there is profit to be extracted. Further, if you can manipulate the crisis to your advantage, you can get the other players in the global speculatory regimes to play along and thus milk them for some squeeze too. It was just a thought...you might not actually know George Soros personally. You might have to get Barry to introduce you two so that you can get an education at his knee about things like gold.
Mr. Chairman, in all of your years studying economic theory at MIT (Ph.D. 1979) and Harvard (BS, 1975)), and teaching it at Stanford (1979-1985), you never fully grasped the prime movers of the price of Gold? I find this truly baffling.
Perhaps I can recommend a book to you that would help you understand the basic concepts. Heck, I'll send you my copy.

RTFM, and the RULES
Yep. The consequences of failing to RTFM, and of violating the Four Rules, are usually injuries at the very least.
Funny thing, the Four Rules of Gun Handling work equally well for other things with triggers, too. Like gas-engined pressure washers.
I've read the manual. I noted where it said DO NOT CROSS THE STREAM, or something like that. Don't use it to take a shower, don't stick your xxxx into the blast. Really, I did.
Violate more than two of these at once, and you will do some damage. The good news is that the skin will eventually grow back and the finger still works.
Plus, the "Hello Kitty" bandage is kinda cute. :)
RTFM. Obey the Four Rules. Word.

The power washer is always loaded.
Don't point the power washer at anything you don't want to wash
Keep your finger off the trigger until you are aimed at your intended target
Be sure of your target, you are responsible for that water until it stops.
