The Doomsday Clock advanced one minute, due to "the threat of global warming, nuclear proliferation, and global unrest". Whoop-de-do. Saddle up the Drama Llama so we can get taken for a ride.
The real Doomsday Clock is not found on some socialist-progressive website decrying the effects of Fascism masquerading as Capitalism. The real Doomsday is the day when no Liberty-loving individuals left in the USA are willing to call out the regimes and apparatchiks destroying our country. How close to that time are we?

Questions and suppositions
Suppositions first: Suppose that Obama is actually a committed Marxist whose intent is on overthrowing ("fundamentally transforming") the way America operates. Suppose that he intends to destroy life as we know it, to be replaced by top-down socialism/fascism, and wants to be able to claim that an outside agent is responsible. Suppose that he intends to weaken our country, our citizens, and our standing in the world. Suppose, also, that the Democratic Party (and their Union enforcement arm) are agents of this change and that it has been their desire for the last 75 years or so, too.
How do you achieve this without prematurely alerting the American public?
Do you wildly inflate the budget beyond any reasonable ability to fund it? (Current accounts deficit, $1.5 Trillion)
Do you force the entitlement spending to consume the entire revenue stream while leaving essential functions to be funded on borrowed money? (Projected actual entitlement spending, including Obamacare, will outstrip tax revenue in <10 years)
Do you engage in opportunistic wars that consume materiel, without funding the replacement of said materiel, so that the military is weakened? (Libya?)
Do you push more people into government dependency by creating onerous hurdles to private sector hiring?
Do you collapse consumer confidence by overwhelming the banking system? (Housing bubble was a direct result of the policies of FNMA and FHLMC)
Do you increase food costs by mandating cropland be used for fuel supplies? (Ethanol)
Do you prohibit the exploration and exploitation of existing natural resources under our control? (Bans on Oil and Natural Gas exploration in the Gulf of Mexico (near shore) and ANWR)
What happens when the nations currently funding 40% of our current expenditures decide that they want a better return on their money? What happens if they do not buy our bonds? What happens if they decide to collect on a bond default by force?
What happens if the food shortages (and/or food price increases due to our inflated currency) foment hunger riots?
With these questions in mind, what are the chances that China will decide that it won't buy our bonds? If that happens, then we will have to increase the rate paid on our bonds to entice buyers. Doing so will explode expenditures on interest payments to service the debt and will cause a funding crisis in the short term (and a budgetary crisis for the foreseeable future). The cascade effect of this will be that the Dollar collapses as a currency.
I can see a whole lot of plausible scenarios unfolding if the Dollar collapses. None of them are good. Most of them involve military intervention at home (and not necessarily to 'repel boarders'), and martial law. Most of them involve the suspension of civil rights until the 'crisis' abates (if it ever does).
Most people are willing to give Baby BarackDuvalier Obama the benefit of the doubt and chalk up his 'mis-steps' to naievete and disinterest. Most people are willing to apply Hanlon's Razor to his governance. However, what if it is not stupidity at all?
What if Obama's actions really are malicious to the long-term success of the United States? What if ideology really does drive every action or inaction on his part? What if the results are intended? What then? Because the already-visible results of his policies, if intended, make him an enemy of the Constitution - Domestic variety.
Are you ready to face that reality?

Subject Change
I think we have pretty much covered the Tucson incident, to the point where there is not much more to be said. I am getting tired of everybody showing their ass to the world regarding the Tucson shooting. Unless provoked, I am done with the topic.
I am also tired of the 'Ruling Class' trying to make themselves more special. I am tired of the sycophants on the left and the right pointing fingers. It is obvious to me that holding up mirrors doesn't work as nobody sees themselves, only the other guy.
Mike Vanderboegh has a lot right when he says that we are 'two countries sharing a common border'. We are in a classic conflict of vision wherein those who wish to rule, and redistribute, and socialize the wealth (or the pain or whatever) are striving to subjugate the rest. The lines are drawn. The choices are made. It is now only a matter of time before some flash-point occurs that sets the whole thing off.
I am done with it. Leave me the hell alone and stay off my lawn. Get out of my wallet and my bedroom. Quit trying to destroy my way of life. Choose now whom you will serve.

The paper bubble is about to burst
Excessive borrowing, far in excess of our country's ability to produce, has kept the nation's economy tottering along for the last 2 years. Like a person in a credit death-spiral, we have been borrowing additional monies just to keep up with the interest payments on the existing debt. We can only keep doing this for so long. This nation is bankrupt. This nation is in denial about the problem. Reality is going to be painful when it makes its appearance.

Like Europe before us, we allowed our public servants to appease our appetites with bread and circuses; with welfare and entitlements. As long as there were enough suckers to keep the scheme alive, and other nations were willing to buy our paper, this was sustainable. That well is rapidly going dry.
Unlike the 1930's, the US manufacturing base is decimated. China makes most of our consumer goods, along with Korea and Singapore. Durable goods come from Japan, with a smattering of companies still making them domestically. Our blue-collar workers are now union-pampered, with wages and benefit packages that are crippling what's left of our domestic companies.
In all this, the government has been complicit. In all this, be it the flight of our manufacturing jobs, or our ever-expanding entitlement structure, the Feds have had a hand in it. The politicians have used their legislative ability to pick winners and losers; to grant favors to politically-favored companies which line their pockets with campaign contributions; to write labor laws which ensure a ready supply of votes for the status quo, but which have destroyed their host companies. And yet, they act surprised when companies take what's left of their capital and flee overseas.
Now, President ObeyMe wants to do another round of "stimulus" as the money supplies contract at record pace. Like a drug addict who cannot recognize the source of his own destruction (or who does, and wishes to hasten it), O-bow-wow is pushing for more of the same poison that is currently killing us.
It is almost as if he is trying to destroy the last vestiges of capitalism left in the US. In order to believe that, I have to buy into the theory that our current president is a traitor to our founding principles. The evidence is beginning to mount, however. Only time will tell if he does, as Woody Allen suggests, appoint himself dictator for a little while. (No, I don't think he will do so. But, the Left wants it...). Usually, the modern dictator gets elected, then changes the rules to prevent further elections.
In any case, the economic situation is a paper bubble and it is about to burst. Greece will not reform, and the Euro will be taken down because. This will cascade over to the US as Europe enters into another spasm of civil strife and unrest. China won't keep buying our bonds for much longer, especially if the Korean peninsula devolves into open warfare. China is currently siding with Kim Jong "Very-Ill" Il and we have an alliance with Pyongyang which will pull us into the mess. Couple these going-on with our changing relationship with Israel, whose ability to defend themselves depends in large measure on our weaponry and support, and you have a recipe for world-wide unrest. A "crisis" if you will.
And, you should never let a crisis go to waste...

President for Life.
How does that sound?
We already have entrenched congressional representatives serving consecutive terms for as long as their Gerrymandered districts remain idealogically pure, and their vote-buying schemes continue to reap rewards. Why not have a President for Life?
It really makes sense, if you think about it. I mean, our pure and chaste congress-persons only have our best interests at heart whenever they vote a new law into place, right? And, our government masters always seek the very best outcomes for the greatest number of people without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, or station in life, right?
And we have absolutely no evidence that our government representatives engage in ethically dubious dealings with lobbying firms, corporations, influence peddlers, international cartels, or criminal syndicates, right?
We have never seen any evidence that our particular form of government causes people to fulfill Lord Acton's observation on the nature of power, right?
We have no evidence that entrenched bureaucracies answerable to the Executive Branch have abused their authority and oppressed their subjects, right? Miller, Ruby Ridge, Waco, and Olofson are aberrations, right?
What could possibly go wrong?
House Joint Resolution 5, introduced on January 6th, 2009 by Rep. Jose Serrano (D-NY) proposes the repeal of the 22nd Amendment to the United States Constitution. If passed in Congress and ratified by 38 states, HJR5 will remove the term limit to the Presidency that was put into place after the last attempt at President for Life, Franklin Delano Roosevelt. It would allow again for the US equivalent of "dictator-in-chief" similar to what was experienced in the 1930's, a very dark time in our nation and the beginning of our decline into a Progressive Worker's paradise.
This bill is sitting in committee right now, and has been since February 9th. I do not expect any action on it, but do find it interesting that these things only raise their ugly heads when a popular Democrat is in office. I confess that the presence of this bill is not ominous by itself, and even sparks a hint of optimism on my part. Optimism, because I fully expected the 2012 (or even the 2010) elections to be disrupted by some "emergency" preventing their occurrence (swine flu, anyone?).
The Libertarian and Conservative in today's political scene is over-matched. They do not believe that government is the answer to any question. They will be destroyed by those who are devout in their belief that government is the solution to every problem, and who are willing to kill to prove it. The Leftist, Socialist, Fascist, Communist, STATIST, political animal however, KNOWS that politics is blood sport. The STATIST knows that politics is the means to whatever end they desire. They know that the power usurped from the people will be used to subjugate the people. They will do so to achieve their end.
Al Gore recently let slip that the Cap and Trade legislation was a foundational building block to global governance. Government-run Universal Health care will be a tool to weed out the undesirables like you and me who believe we have the right to Liberty, and who oppose global government. Al Gore believes, as does every Statist I have ever met or read, that global governance is the solution to all the world's ills. They ALL believe that they will be the one holding the levers of power, for power is what they are truly after - Constitution be damned.
Your rights as a human being, my rights as a human being, will be trampled by them. No doubt about it. Their goal line runs through you. What are you going to do about it?

Right Wing Extremist? Maybe...

Anyhoo, former loon Governor of Arizona and current DHS Gadfly in Command, Janet Napolitano, has published the famous hit piece on mainstream Americans entitled "Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment". This piece of un-balanced excretia was a swing-and-a-miss from the get-go. It was rushed through to publication, against the advice of the lawyers and advisors with a longer view of things, and hit the distro list just in time for the "TEA Parties".
I am shocked...
I mean, partisan hack-jobs being released immediately prior to a media (non)-event? Whodathunkit? I mean, that kind of stuff NEVER happens in politics, does it?
Nah. That's just paranoia talking, right?

So, the author of the document is listed on page 1 as: "(U) Prepared by the Extremism and Radicalization Branch, Homeland Environment Threat Analysis Division. Coordinated with the FBI."
The Department of Homeland Security has an Extremism and Radicalization Branch? Doesn't that mean that in this branch, they are fomenting radicals and extremists? With the help of the FBI? Wow. If I was one of the tinfoil-hat crowd, I might get concerned.
If you understand what a trial balloon is, you might think that this report was floated just to see WHICH groups jumped. It is kind of like the highway patrolman person Trooper activating the radar gun to see which cars' brake lights illuminate. Can you say "Gotcha"? I knew you could...
I like this next part: "The information is provided to federal, state, local, and tribal counterterrorism and law enforcement officials so they may effectively deter, prevent, preempt, or respond to terrorist attacks against the United States. Federal efforts to influence domestic public opinion must be conducted in an overt and transparent manner, clearly identifying United States Government sponsorship. (emphasis mine). I read this to mean that the Federal Government has decided that, in an effort directed towards focusing local law-enforcement activities in their preferred manner, this report is designed to influence domestic public opinion overtly.
Transparency was only achieved after this report was leaked publicly...
So, the Department of Homeland Security is advocating that Law Enforcement take pre-emptive measures to "prevent" terrorist attacks against the United States. Remember this line when you read further into the report. It has a VERY chilling effect on your rights as citizens and Americans.
Page two lists in great detail the fact that NO SPECIFIC INFORMATION exists about potential attacks, and then in the next sentence states unequivocally that "rightwing extremists may be gaining new recruits by playing on their fears about several emergent issues."
That takes balls.
So does the lumping together of neo-Nazis and skinheads with the guy down the street who got laid off due to the economic downturn. Yep, if you have just lost your job, you are now a racist hate-monger who is angry that a black man is president. I wonder how that logic squares with the minorities who have lost their jobs due to the economic downturn? Are they now neo-Nazi Skinheads too?

Page two also re-hashes the old canard about Tim McVeigh... C'mon guys! McVeigh was a dirtbag who had militant Islamic ties. Really, he did. Would someone at DHS PLEASE go look it up? Or, at least, go ask someone intelligent and knowledgeable in the FBI? Pretty please?
Oh, Bottom of Page two...all you military types fresh from the front lines. You are now terrorists in the eyes of your government. Sorry. Potential terrorists. Because, you know, you might have seen things that might give you trouble sleeping. Or something. Because, you know, you might be human...or something.
Page three: (paraphrasing here) Just because the President PROMISED his constituents and POSTED on the official White House web page that he intends to take your guns away, doesn't mean that the threat is credible. Really it doesn't. He didn't really mean it when he said it, posted it, stumped on it, talked to the President of Mexico about it, blamed YOU for the problems in Mexico because of it, and promised to ram through a treaty with that effect. Nope. Just smoke and mirrors. So all of you people buying guns for the first (second, fourth, fortieth) time can cut it out already. The police are getting worried that it will be harder to confiscate them now that you bought all of them.
This goes double for you returning vets with combat experience. Because, you know, unlike us poor civilian boobs, you guys and gals actually know how to use guns and you have the overseers a wee bit worried that you won't forget those skills any time soon.

Page four: If you oppose Gun Control efforts, Free Trade agreements with the Mexican Narco-State, Abortion, Same-sex Marriage, and "inter-racial crime", you might be aredneck Right Wing Extremist. (Although, parsing this, I guess inter-racial crime means crimes by members of one racial group against members of another. I am opposed to crimes against persons, regardless of race. Does this count?)

They took four sentences to say one word: WACO. They are trying to self-fulfill a prophesy of their own creation...and will blame you just like they blamed Koresh and his followers.
Ummm. Hmmmm. If the economy collapses because we pumped a couple of trillion dollars into it without the production to back it up and caused hyper-inflation, you are branded an extremist if you prepared for it by putting aside food, weapons, and ammunition. To provide for your family, should it be required. To protect them, should it be required. To survive a very bad time, should it come to that. The Government (in all of its iterations) has absolutely no duty to protect an individual. This is established fact, cemented in the case law of the country. If Government has no duty to protect you, shouldn't you be prepared to if you have to? I am just asking...
As an aside: If the sun sets in the west and a million people watch it, did they conspire to achieve twilight? Or, did they look at their watches, see the time, read the signs, and prepare to witness it? Anyhoo, former loon Governor of Arizona and current DHS Gadfly in Command, Janet Napolitano, has published the famous hit piece on mainstream Americans entitled "Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment". This piece of un-balanced excretia was a swing-and-a-miss from the get-go. It was rushed through to publication, against the advice of the lawyers and advisors with a longer view of things, and hit the distro list just in time for the "TEA Parties".
I am shocked...
I mean, partisan hack-jobs being released immediately prior to a media (non)-event? Whodathunkit? I mean, that kind of stuff NEVER happens in politics, does it?

So, the author of the document is listed on page 1 as: "(U) Prepared by the Extremism and Radicalization Branch, Homeland Environment Threat Analysis Division. Coordinated with the FBI."
The Department of Homeland Security has an Extremism and Radicalization Branch? Doesn't that mean that in this branch, they are fomenting radicals and extremists? With the help of the FBI? Wow. If I was one of the tinfoil-hat crowd, I might get concerned.
If you understand what a trial balloon is, you might think that this report was floated just to see WHICH groups jumped. It is kind of like the highway patrol
I like this next part: "The information is provided to federal, state, local, and tribal counterterrorism and law enforcement officials so they may effectively deter, prevent, preempt, or respond to terrorist attacks against the United States. Federal efforts to influence domestic public opinion must be conducted in an overt and transparent manner, clearly identifying United States Government sponsorship. (emphasis mine). I read this to mean that the Federal Government has decided that, in an effort directed towards focusing local law-enforcement activities in their preferred manner, this report is designed to influence domestic public opinion overtly.
Transparency was only achieved after this report was leaked publicly...
So, the Department of Homeland Security is advocating that Law Enforcement take pre-emptive measures to "prevent" terrorist attacks against the United States. Remember this line when you read further into the report. It has a VERY chilling effect on your rights as citizens and Americans.
Page two lists in great detail the fact that NO SPECIFIC INFORMATION exists about potential attacks, and then in the next sentence states unequivocally that "rightwing extremists may be gaining new recruits by playing on their fears about several emergent issues."
That takes balls.
So does the lumping together of neo-Nazis and skinheads with the guy down the street who got laid off due to the economic downturn. Yep, if you have just lost your job, you are now a racist hate-monger who is angry that a black man is president. Liberty lost.
If you read my last post, I tried to make a case for Liberty. I tried to make the case that Government is not your Mommy, Daddy, or Nanny. It is not Government’s responsibility to provide for your welfare, ensure your employment, or give you medical services for free.
In the eyes of the Framers, Government existed to provide very basic services. Everything not delineated as a core function of Government is reserved to the States, or to the People.
Government’s primary function was envisioned as securing Liberty for the People. This was to be accomplished by ensuring that personal property rights would remain inviolate. We were to be protected from enemies Foreign and Domestic by means of Militias and a standing Army. We were to be assured that there would be uniformity of rights accorded to the People, and that those rights would be recognized among the many states. We were to be assured that commerce would be allowed freely among parties, even across state lines. We were to be left as Free People, to pursue our own means and our own livelihood without interference by Government, so long as we did not infringe upon another's rights.
How did we get from that ideal to where we are now?
Fear.
We got here because people got afraid.
We got here because an ambitious President, using a cowardly Congress, and with complicity from a Supreme Court more interested in keeping their jobs than in protecting Liberty, made it so. We got here because of the New Deal.
Once politicians figured out that it was easy to steal from the many to give to the few, it became easy to fool the people that Government was beneficent. People then forgot that THEY were the Government, and that they were allowing themselves to be bonded into Slavery through nominal taxation and Governmental largess, bought at the price of their Liberty.
The stock market crash of 1929 did NOT become a full-blown depression until the New Deal ushered into existence in 1933.
Really. Look it up.
The Depression was ushered into existence by a charismatic politician who decried the “evil rich”, promised welfare for the middle class, ensured jobs programs through public works for the unemployed, and payment for the indigent, elderly, and out of work. Sound familiar? It should. It is the exact same thing Obama is promising as it was then under Roosevelt. Brace yourselves for the new, New Deal; and for the new, New Depression.
So here it is folks:
If you want to break the bondage of Taxation Slavery; if you want to break the grip of “freedom by permission”; if you want to be allowed to become whatever your effort and brains and talent will afford, then say NO to the attacks on private property rights and individual Liberty.
Say NO to the attacks on the “evil rich” (using a progressive income tax), lest you be defined as “Rich” later on.
Say NO to the unlawful taking or private property so that the tax base can be increased for the city (Kelo v. New London), lest your property become the next target.
Say NO to the infringement of your Second Amendment rights through the myriad of laws that they are trying to pass, lest your right to self-defense be taken next.
Say NO to the infringements of your political speech (McCain Feingold), lest your regular speech be taken away too.
Say NO to Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, and Welfare. Save for your own retirement, take care of your families, honor your parents and grandparents, your children and grandchildren.
Refuse to accept the ill-gotten gain of Other People’s Money, forced from them at gunpoint or threat of prison, and thus ensure your own liberty and freedom to produce.
Take a stand.
Convince others of the moral imperative that what is yours is yours, and what is theirs, is theirs. It is time for a quiet revolution of people living within their means once more, and requiring Government to do the same.
On a final note: Write a letter to any company that you hear is going before Congress looking for a handout. Quietly inform them that you will no longer do business with them if they pursue taking your money from you to pay for their failed managerial policies. Then follow through with action.
Any company that is failing, after rigging the game in their favor in the first place, deserves no place at the free-market table.
Let them fail.
This also goes for those union laborers who allowed the game to be rigged on their behalf by their parasitic union bosses, such that their host companies cannot survive under the load. You guys deserve what you get. You have killed too many industries and forced your own jobs oversees by your greed.
The piper is calling. It is time to pay.
