The Dog

Some of you who know me personally are aware of my general dislike for the disgusting antics of my beagle. I have kidded often about how she is "free-to-good-home" if someone would take her. However, even though she can be a right-royal pain a lot of the time, she IS my dog and is true and loyal as only a hound can be.

She has been a member of the family for over 14 years. And, she is dying.

We go to the vet at 10:00 this morning. I expect that by this afternoon she will be gone.

UPDATE: Blood work 6 months ago showed she was normal. A week ago she appeared healthy and, up until 2 days ago, had good appetite. Today, X-rays showed advanced lung cancer. It is over now. R.I.P Chloe.

She will be missed.

Pax,

Newbius

Sorry to hear that. It's very rough when an old friend leaves you like that. Prayers on their way from our family.

They start out as being like your baby, become your brother or sister, then your parent, then your grandparent. It's another mystery, how they worm themselves so deeply into your life and finally your heart.

There are rougher days than these, but not by much. Especially when it's the extraspecial beagle, the plainest and most mysterious of the blasted species.

To our best friends.

I'm very sorry - it's hard to watch them suffer. Had something like this happen myself a few months ago. It gets better. The good times need not leave when they do. Treasure what stays behind - hug your kids!

Thoughts and prayers for the family Newbuis- Losing a dog is like losing a member, no, IS losing a member of the family...

Oh no... I'm so sorry, Newbius.

I'm lucky to have met Chloe in person.

Godspeed...

I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of your hound. I hope your heart is warmed by fond memories of the good stuff, and that the bad stuff is quickly forgotten.
