Posting update

Still here, nothing to say. Watching the slow-motion train wreck of the American Political Process has me shaking my head in disbelief at the crassness and venality of it all. What ever happened to the Statesmen? Where did they go?

Actually, it's not as bad as you think. While looking through my Almanac the other day for some obscure Stats, I came upon the section with all the short Presidential Bios. Stared to read them, then it hit me. This country has had a LOT more of the Millard Fillmores, John Tylers and Warren G. Hardings than we've had Washingtons, Lincolns and Reagans. And the Republic survived. Not that many Great Ones out there in our past, and sadly, I'm not seeing any on the horizon.

Having said that, I'd rather have Four Years of Zombie Chester A. Arthur than another Term of Comrade Obama!

I would settle for someone who is not an avowed Communist, and understands that we are a Representative Republic, and not a Democracy. The people might want the bread and circuses, but it is unconstitutional to give it to them. Until the Constitution is changed and amended to grant Government the power to redistribute wealth, every social program that the Feds administer is illegal. They can take the taxes, but they cannot spend them on anything not in their charter. When will we get a leader who understand this, and isn't bug-nuts crazy like Dr. Paul?

We, the people, ran off the Statesmen.

I had to blame the populous but in this case that is the only truth.

We didn't insist our elected representatives live up to our values and didn't recall them when they failed miserably.

We, the people, elected those venal popinjays because they looked good on TV and promised to feed and clothe us.

We, the people, voted for the city councils, the state senators, the county commissioners who promised us the moon and the sky -- and those elected officials worked their way up to the national level.
