The ice maker on the kitchen refrigerator gave up this weekend, locking up during the "fill" function. As a result, we had a minor flood in the kitchen to deal with. We got the water cleaned up, and shut the ice maker down, and all was good.
Except...we stopped into Blue Label Big Box Home Improvement Store. There, at almost 50% off, was my next refrigerator. A very nice Whirlpool box came home this morning, delivered by the nice young men who speak Spanish. MSRP: $2499, price paid: $1299 and I got them to deliver it for free ($75 savings). Of course, I now have to move my base cabinets in my kitchen 3/4" right, due to space requirements. This is a change that I can live with.
At least the Emergency Fund could manage the hit. (Thank you Dave Ramsey)
How was your weekend?

$1300 for a refrigerator? So how does it feel to be part of the 1%, eh?
It really only works out to $0.36 per day over its expected life-span.
1% (worldwide) feels pretty good. I am fortunate to live in a country where you get to keep (most of) what you earn if you will just *work* for it. Nationally, we are in the top 20%, but we *earned* it. We still do, working 50+ hours per week and running a business on the side.
Any "Occupiers" who wish to contest my right to what is mine are welcome to try and take it. They will not like the results, however.
Les, Your comment has provoked some additional thought on this matter. More to follow...
You got away cheap. We had the exact same thing happen, except that we were out, and it went on for about 3 hours. $40,000 worth of damage, all new flooring, destroyed the bottom 2 feet of sheetrock in most of our downstairs.
I'm happy it was much less expensive for you!
