The left smears, the right veers

The Radical Democrat Left and their mouthpieces in the media (repeat) are smearing the Tea Party as Terrorists, Jihadis, and hostage-takers. The ACTUAL Tea Party is sitting on the sidelines wondering why these addle-brained psychopaths, who cannot do basic math, are allowed out in public without supervision.

Meanwhile, the Right (in the form of TammyFaye Boehner and Company) are veering back to the artificial center because they are afraid to take a principled stand on the debt issue. Enough if this crap.

When the Tea Party Actually straps explosives to the Capital, Actually takes up arms, Actually takes hostages (per the over-hyped media reports and wildly spinning and breathless claims of the Dems), then you will know. Because The People will have had enough of the games and will have exercised their right to refresh the Tree of Liberty. Madame Pelosi, Senators Reid and Schumer...you ain't seen nothing yet. Be careful what you wish for, for your actions to date might precipitate the very actions you claim are taking place right now.

Sitting in the corner and crying into your Wooby that the Republicans aren't giving you "bi-partisan" cover for your socialist schemes isn't working. Instead of vilifying the House leadership because they did their job, maybe you can shame ObeyMe or Reid into doing theirs? Your accusations of Dictatorship are ringing hollow. Quit projecting your actions onto others and start acting like an adult.

This Democratic temper-tantrum is getting old. If you Democrats want to be able to control the agenda, then WIN THE GORRAM ELECTION! Otherwise, COMPROMISE. YOUR SIDE has to bend on this, and you know it. MSNBC and DNCNN might give you cover, but the American people will no longer do so. Oh, and Debbie? The reason why your side is in the minority right now in the house is BECAUSE you controlled the agenda for 4 years and destroyed the economy in the process.

Do you want a balanced budget?

No need to pass a Constitutional Amendment. Nope. If you want to get a balance budget here is what you ask your congresscritter to do:

NOTHING

Do nothing. We are at our statutory debt limit. NOTHING MORE can be borrowed. No more deficits can be run up. On August 3rd, the government will have to live within its means. It can NOT borrow more money.

Some hard choices need to be made, as the Free Stuff Army will still want their ice cream, skittles, and unicorn farts. The rest of us can breathe a little easier, because there is NO CRISIS. There is only the requirement that we spend only what revenue that we take in, and no more.

If TurboTaxTimmy chooses to default on the debt, then it will be a deliberate act of Treason, not the rational response to forced budgetary austerity due to statutory limits.

Keep an eye peeled. A crisis is what they want. They want you to scream "DO SOMETHING"...so that they can. Call them up and tell them to DO NOTHING. It is the best hope for our future.

Sorry, real-life issues take precedence over blogging. Too much work, lots of stress, and not enough recoil therapy.

Two things: Tonight the youth group at church meets again, and I always look forward to that. These kids are our future and the prospect looks very bright. I am very proud of them. Also, Melissa at Psalm 19 is very close to her fundraising goal for her mission trip to Bolivia. Go over there and chip in a box of ammo's worth. Every little bit helps. In the heat of the Summer

So here we are, in the heat of the summer, in the heat of passionate argument about the future path of our nation. I am watching the proceedings in Washington with bemused detachment. The Evil party wants to spend us into oblivion, in order to retain power over whatever is left after they destroy our structure. The Stupid party just wants to do the same, but more slowly, as long as they get to keep their jobs too. This delicate balance is upset by the TEA party who just want...well nobody is really sure what they want, except it better have a lower price tag on it.

And me? I am going to the range to meet up with my friends, trade some stories, and then have lunch. I might meet with a couple of 'subversives' while I am at it. Got to keep them guessing, you know.

Know who you are. Know what you stand for. Stay alert. Maintain your networks, because Tribes are important. Remember to have some fun. The bastards hate it when you are smiling...

Questions

If Justice is truly blind, then why the need for politically-correct enhancements to existing crime laws? Is the assault, robbery, murder any more tragic if the victim is a member of a protected class? Is the crime any less tragic if the victim is not?

Are some people more equal than others?

Does enhancing the penalty for a crime today atone for the misdeeds of the distant past?

What passes today for Justice is not. The system is perverted to the will of those who are in, and those who are connected. It is the law of the jungle. As it ever was, except for a brief time in our history. This has to change of we are to survive and thrive.

Question: Do we as a nation have the fortitude, the will, the courage, to restore our Nation to the ideals of its founding? Do we have the courage to face Liberty, in all her messy guises, and declare ourselves a Free People once more? Or, would we rather suffocate slowly in our warm and comfortable prisons of Apathy and American Idolatry? Sadly, my guess is the latter.

Anybody care to prove me wrong?

Plaintiff's were dismissed on Standing grounds. I expect that an appeal will be forthcoming shortly (using Dearth v. Holder as the framework, I predict).

Lose fast, appeal all the way up. Make a Supreme case out of it.

Hunter Safety

I finally completed my Hunter Safety course this weekend. I first took the class in the late 70's as a teen. I did not get a chance to take the final exam due to a family emergency. Fast-forward 30+ years, I am now legal to hunt.

I am not sure I am ready, but I am now legal.

It is kind of funny...the videos that they showed during my class this past weekend were the same ones that I saw as a youth. I guess some things are timeless, even the mustaches.

A big "thank you" goes out to the volunteers at the Quantico Rod and Gun Club. They gave up their weekend to teach a classroom full (60+) of new hunters how to do it right, and at no cost to the participants. I was especially gratified to see the large number of kids in the class (all of whom passed). Hunting is a legacy that needs to be passed on to our kids.

The winter hunting months are rapidly approaching. Now is a great time to get involved, get certified (for life), and get your gear together. Hit the web, find a class near you, and learn something. You'll be glad you did.

Number One Son got mugged last night. He is OK, but a couple hundred dollars lighter. The Missus and I are awaiting the rest of the story...

Hunter Safety

This coming weekend, I will be taking a Hunter Safety course at the local Rod and Gun club. I took this class as a teenager in California, but do not have my certificate. I need to brush up on a few things in any case, so I can have a safe hunt this fall. My goal is to harvest my first deer this coming season. If I can arrange things right, I might even be able to meet up with ZerCool for his hunt at the farm...(hint hint).

Anyway, this will complete the rite of passage that I began when I was (much) younger. Stay safe.

NBC News Chicago reports on crime in Chicago-Crime that is impossible to believe because we all know that nobody is allowed to carry a handgun in Chicago (except the cops and politicos). Therefore, THIS REPORT must be entirely false.

Since we all know that only criminals and politicians (I repeat myself...) can carry concealed in Chicago, perhaps the criminals doing the shooting were actually Aldermen out on the town for the night??

Does it still matter?

Yes.

For if we believe that it does not, then we consign ourselves to a situation where the rule of law is no longer. We consign ourselves to the rule of men. In that fight, might makes right. The strong will overrun the weak. The nation will cease to be.

There are some who will posit that we are already at that place in our history. If this is the case, then we should take heed and review our past. We should reread the wisdom of the men who put quill and ink to parchment and who drafted the first document. We should reread the reasons why we fought to bring this nation into being. We should then compare those reasons to what is going on all around us, and what is being done in our name against our own people, in the name of governance.

Monster Hunter Alpha

Larry Correia writes such badass stuff, and Earl Harbinger is the Alpha-male of the badasses. I absolutely loved the first two books. I have pre-ordered Monster Hunter Alpha. If you like witty dialogue, accurate shooty goodness, and killer story lines, you will love this series. You should go get a copy too.

Even though Larry says he will write nice things about me, I endorse these books because they are flat-out awesome. Go get you some.
